WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 04.03.24

Our Learning

We have had yet another fabulous week in Seals class. It has involved money, natural resources and an abundance of words!

English -

This week, our English work has been based around our whole class read, Boy in the Tower. This has included writing a range of poems, writing a diary entry from the perspective of one of the main characters, and writing a newspaper report about a mysterious event from the book!

Maths -

We have concluded our fractions, decimals and percentages work this week. It has involved finding a percentage of an amount and finding missing values. Towards this end of this week, we have begun our area and perimeter unit of work. This has so far included finding the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes.

Geography -

We have continued learning about the human geography of Canada this week. On Monday, we learnt about Canada's natural resources, economy and trade. We discussed how Canada's oil reserves, minerals and freshwater supply contribute to the country's wealth and global links. On Wednesday, we considered the impacts of climate change on Canada. We thought about how rising temperatures are affecting the environments, cities and people of Canada and discussed what strategies the Canadian government are putting in place to protect their country. Our main task in this lesson was to produce a poem/poster which encourages people to think carefully about climate change and prevent it having the impact it is having on countries such as Canada!

Homework -

Children have been given a sheet of Maths and English homework to take home this week, which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. We also ask that they practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible alongside this.
