WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/C 26.06.23

What a busy week we have had!

In maths, we have started our new unit of work: Statistics. At the start of the week, we explored tally charts. We made our own tally charts and learnt how to interpret information from them. Show someone at home how to show these numbers as a tally: 7, 4, 15, 21, 30. We then explore tables and block diagrams. We chose our own topics to investigate (e.g. favourite colours, pets, food) and created a block diagram. We then used this knowledge to solve problems. What you solve this problem?

In English, we have started to learn our new model text: Teddy's Adventure. This is a losing tale about a little girl called Lucy who loses her teddy in London. Can you remember what happened in each part of our story? Use the story structure below to help you:

Opening: The MC has something precious
Build up: The MC sets off with the precious item
Problem: The MC loses the precious item and has to search for it
Resolution: The precious item is found
Ending: MC vows to keep the item safe

We have also been learning how to include speech within our writing. Can you find any speech in your reading book or in a book you have at home? We also recapped our work on expanded noun phrases. Can you explain to someone at home what an expanded noun phrase is? We identified and used them within our own writing this week.

In science, we had lots of fun! On Monday we design and made our own smoothies! What did you put in yours? Take a look at our photos below! We evaluated our designs and considered what we might do differently next time.

On Tuesday afternoon, we all went to see Cat in the Hat at Repton 400 Hall. We all had a fantastic time and got to meet the cast and have an ice lolly! What did you enjoy about the show?

On Wednesday, we had our sports day! We have a brilliant time. What was your favourite part?

Well done Owls on another super week!
