Our Learning
I cannot believe how quickly this week has flown by! It has involved time, tennis and poo!
English –
This week, we have been preparing for our next hot write. We have analysed the features of an explanation text, conducted research and planned our writing. We will be writing our own explanation text about the Digestive System next week.
Maths –
This week’s focus has been time. We started the week with a recap of previous learning, including telling the time to the minute using an analogue clock. We revised telling the time in minutes past the hour and minutes to the hour. We then moved on to writing the time using a 12-hour digital clock. Finally, we were introduced to the 24-hour clock. We have worked on converting between 12-hour digital time and 24-hour digital time.
Science –
We have now started our ‘Animals including humans’ topic which we kickstarted with a fun, yet gross, experiment! We explored the process of digestion using a variety of weird and wonderful things. Most children enjoyed making poo in this experiment but others found it completely revolting! Since the experiment, we have identified and labelled organs involved in the digestive system and researched the simple functions of each of these. Next week, we will begin learning about teeth.
Homework –
Children have not been provided with a homework sheet this week but have been asked to practice their times tables in preparation for the official MTC on Monday (12th June). We will be carrying out the assessment on Monday morning so please encourage your child to practice as much as possible over the weekend!
