Our Learning
We have had another fantastic week in Seals class. It has involved four operations, Covid-19 reflections and comparisons between the rich and poor!
English –
We have continued our diary unit of work this week. At the beginning of the week, we innovated our model text, changing it slightly so that our diary entry reflected the events of Covid-19 rather than the Plague. For the rest of the week, we have been planning and writing our own diary entries written from the perspective of somebody during ancient Egyptian times. The children have come up with wonderful ideas and have worked hard to include thoughts, feelings and opinions in their work.
Maths –
This week, we have completed our place value work and moved on to the four operations. So far this has involved adding and subtracting integers, finding common factors of numbers and finding common multiples of numbers. We will continue this unit of work next week, moving on to multiplication and division.
History –
We have continued our Ancient Egypt work this week with a focus on homes and jobs. We discovered what 'typical' ancient Egyptian homes were like ,inside and out, and compared these to the homes of the more wealthy. We also learned about the jobs which people had during ancient Egyptian times and placed these on a 'Hierarchy Pyramid', according to their status/ranking within society. Next week, we will be applying for ancient Egyptian jobs and will begin to learn about ancient Egyptian beliefs.
Homework –
Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on a Monday.
