WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 12.06.23

Our Learning

What a fun yet busy week we have had in Seals class. It has involved explanations, charts and plaque!

English –

In English this week the children have completed their hot writes. They have worked hard to write, edit and publish explanation texts about the digestive system. They have written their work up in neat as a double page spread which they have completed this afternoon. Here are some examples of their brilliant work:

Maths –

This week has been all about statistics. It has involved interpreting bar charts and pictograms, using data to solve comparison, sum and difference problems, interpreting data from line graphs and presenting data on a line graph. Next week we will be moving on to shape.

Science –

We have moved on from the digestive system to focus more closely on teeth. So far, we have identified the four types of teeth we have, and their functions, and have identified the importance of keeping your teeth clean and healthy. There were a few disgusted looks on the children’s faces today when they conducted their plaque experiment, but it is safe to say that they all had fun participating nonetheless!

Homework –

Children have been given a piece of Maths homework which has been explained in class. This piece of homework is due on Monday 19th June 2023. Children have been asked to practice their spellings, times tables and read at home alongside this.

Spellings -

Year 4, List 32 – Spelling summary

You may notice over the next few weeks that the spellings in your child’s homework diary are different to those on spelling shed. This is because we are reaching the end of the year and there are lots of revision and summary spelling lists which the children need to recap and revise. The children will be tested on the spellings in their diary but we do encourage them to practice all of the spellings set.

Spellings given out: Monday 12th June 2023

Spelling test: Monday 19th June 2023

Have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Bailey
