Our Learning

We have had another very busy week in Seals class! It has involved scales, graffiti and pulses!

English –

This week, the children have completed a poetry unit. At the beginning of the week, they chose a type of poetry that they would like to write and completed research around this. They then created a bank of interesting words/phrases relating to Christmas/Winter, ready to use these in their poetry. Finally, the children wrote their Christmas/Winter themed poems in the style of poetry they learnt about, and have published these for our writing wall. 

Maths -

We have continued our ratio unit of work this week. It has involved understanding and using the ratio symbol, identifying connections between ratio and fractions, and using scale diagrams and scale factors. We will be consolidating our Maths learning so far through festive Maths activities next week!

History - 

In our topic lessons this week, we have learned about ancient Greek conflict and art. At the beginning of the week, we discovered more about conflict throughout the ancient Greek period. This included learning about warriors, armour and wars such as the Persian Wars, Trojan War and the Peloponnesian War. The children wrote diary entries and historical narratives to showcase what they had learnt. Towards the end of the week, the Seals researched an aspect of ancient Greek arts and culture. They worked in groups to research and present information about their chosen area, and they will present their findings to the rest of the class next week.

Homework –

Children have not been given any homework this week. Instead, they have been given their practice papers to take home and look over.
