WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

19.1.24

We have had a lovely week this week and have been delighted to welcome two new children to our class with another child starting next Monday! The class have all been very welcoming to our new children and helped them to feel at home quickly.

In English, we have thought about the structure of our historical narrative story and have started to plan their own story set in Viking times. We will continue working on this next week.

In maths, we have been learning about factors of numbers and how we can use these to solve bigger multiplications. For example, if you wanted to work out 16x5, you could do 8x2x5, s 8 and 2 are factors of 16. We are having a really big push on times tables at the moment, so please continue to learn these at home and encourage your child to use TTRS.

In our topic work this week, we have been learning about the lines on the Earth we can’t see such as the Equator and the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. We have also learned about lines of latitude and longitude and how we use these to give co-ordinates.

Next Tuesday, 23rd January, is our Forest School session!

The classes that have done this so far have had a wonderful time. This session will take place on school grounds and will be a whole day experience. Children will need to wear appropriate warm clothing: waterproofs, long-sleeved tops, long trousers, coat and sturdy footwear, as we will be outside for most of the day. I would also advise a hat, scarf and gloves as the weather forecast is looking rather cold! Wellies can sometimes be rather cold, so a couple of pairs of socks would help.

Keep warm, have fun!
