This week in English, we have been looking at poetry and the use of alliteration and similes. We will be writing some Christmas poems next week.
In maths, we have been looking at the use of arrays in multiplication and division. The children have been developing understanding of the commutative rule in multiplication, that is that 3x4 is the same as 4x3.
In our topic work we have been learning about Viking art and design. We learned about the Lewis chessmen, Viking tapestry and in particular Viking jewellery. The children are going to use what they have learned to design and make a Viking broach.
Things are getting very busy in school with lots of lovely Christmas events. On Wednesday we had a wonderful time watching the Sleeping Beauty pantomime. The children (and staff!) really got into the spirit of the event with lots of cheering, shouting, booing and singing. This was then followed by a fantastic Christmas lunch. Our thanks go out to the kitchen team and supervisors for putting together such a lovely lunchtime. Finally, today we had the pleasure of watching Key Stage 1 perform their Christmas play. The children involved did a marvellous job and our children really enjoyed watching it. A big thank you to those parents and family members who gave up their time to walk with us.
Have a lovely weekend!
