Our Learning
We have reached the end of another term and what a busy term it has been! This week our learning has involved famous Canadians, natural hazards and album covers!
English -
This week, the children completed their next 'Hot Write'. They were tasked with writing a biography about a famous Canadian. Some example celebrities who children have written about include Justin Bieber, Ryan Reynolds and Avril Lavigne! Children have been working hard all week, editing and writing their biographies, and have today published their final edit for our display.
Maths -
We have completed our decimals unit of work this week. This has involved multiplying and dividing decimals in context and looking at decimal/fraction equivalents. Today, the children enjoyed a 'Mystery Maths' activity, putting what they have learnt so far this year to the test! After half-term we will begin the much anticipated fractions, decimals and percentages unit of work.
Geography -
In Geography this week we considered why Canada's location and physical geography makes it susceptible to natural hazards. We discussed the natural hazards that the country faces, understanding what they are, how they occur and the effects of these. We also considered why each hazard might occur in Canada specifically and looked at previous incidences in the country. When we return after the half-term break, we will focus on the human geography of Canada.
Homework –
Children have not been given a sheet of English or Maths home to complete over the half-term. Instead, we ask that they have a thorough look through their most recent practice SATs papers and revise any elements that they have found challenging. We encourage children to please read and access TTRockstars/Spelling Shed alongside this.
