WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

15.9.23

It was lovely to meet some of you on Tuesday evening. For those that couldn’t make it, I have put a copy of the presentation on the Squirrels’ Class page.

This week in maths we have been learning about place value and understanding what each digit in a number is worth. We have used a number of different representations to show this including using Dienes, place value counters etc. Next week we will be estimating and comparing numbers.

In English, we have been learning about past tense verbs both regular and irregular and changing between different tenses. We have also looked at writing using first person and analysed a piece of writing to find different diary features.

We began our topic work this week, and the children found out a little about where the Anglo Saxons came from and why they came to live here. They also looked a key events of the period and made a timeline.

Children all have log in details for Spelling Shed and TTRS in their Homework diaries. I have also put in a spare copy for you to keep somewhere safe at home. We are currently assessing all of the Y1/2 words and Y3/4 words for reading and spelling. I sent a copy of these home earlier in the week. Spelling Shed should now have assignments set for the different year groups.
