WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 5th February 2024

This week has been filled with us thinking about and valuing our own opinion and voices, being safe online and analysing and looking at Newspaper Reports.

In English we began looking at our new unit of Newspaper Reports. We looked at our WAGOLL which detailed Heather Blank’s experience of seeing an alien in her hometown of Cotton Rock. We looked at the text and thought about what features Newspaper’s might have, what interesting words we could find and what symbols we could create to help us remember important parts of the text. We also thought about direct speech and how it punctuated correctly.  Have a look at some of our Newspaper Report analysing below.

In Maths, Year 3 have begun a new unit of length and perimeter by thinking about equivalent lengths of cm and mm. They thought about how these different measurements correspond and how we can transfer between the two. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-up?

Year 4 have finished their unit of multiplication and division by looking at dividing a 3 digit and a 1 digit number using partitioning as well as doing a little bit of extra work on dividing with remainders. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-up?

This week marks Children’s Mental Health week, the them this year is ‘My Voice Matters’.  We thought about how it is important to feel that we can express our beliefs, opinions and views without feeling judged for them and how the voice of every child is important, whatever they have to say. The children created pictures detailing their achievements to celebrate the things that they find important for themselves and their own self-esteem.

This week also saw the return of Safer Internet Day with the theme of ‘Inspiring Change’.  We thought about our Digital Footprint and what we put in it every week. As well as how we can ensure that our Digital Footprint is safe for us and everyone.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Stay safe
