WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

13.10.23

What another super week of learning we have had in Foxes class! In English, we have been learning how to make notes and researching the life of the boxer Nicola Adams. The children have needed to pick out important parts of the text such as dates and key events in her life and put them in chronological order. Next week we will start to write biographies from our notes. Watch this BBC clip of Nicola from just before she was honoured with an MBE from the Queen. Nicola Adams MBE

In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting ones and tens crossing boundaries and regrouping. We have used lots of different methods to develop mental calculations such as using number lines, physical equipment and diagrams. We will be doing some addition consolidation work next week.

In History, we have learned about the original pagan beliefs of the Anglo-Saxons and found out lots of facts about the different Gods and Goddesses that they believed in. Next week we will be learning about their conversion to Christianity, their art and finding out about the Staffordshire Hoard. Some of the Hoard is on display at Tamworth Castle so the children will see the actual artefacts on our visit in a couple of weeks! What do you think the Anglo-Saxons used these artefacts for?

We look forward to meeting you at Parents’ Evening next week where we will be letting you know how your child has settled into the new year.

Thank you to all the parents who have supported their children in completing their home learning. Please remember to write in their reading records when they have read and encourage them to play on spelling shed and TTRS! We want to try and get back to 1st place on the school leaderboards!

Have a great weekend!

Miss Hanslow
