WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/C 17.06.24

What a busy week we have had!

In maths, we have started our new unit of work: Statistics. At the start of the week, we explored tally charts. We made our own tally charts and learnt how to interpret information from them. Show someone at home how to show these numbers as a tally: 7, 4, 15, 21, 30. We then explore tables and block diagrams. We chose our own topics to investigate (e.g., favourite colours, pets, food) and created a block diagram. We then used this knowledge to solve problems. What you solve this problem?

In English, we completed our hot write, a non-chronological report about an animal we researched. The children worked very hard on these and ensured they included some of these key features: title, subheadings, pictures, captions and questions. We then finished the week with some more independent writing. We retold the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I have been blown away by their fantastic writing this week!

In science, we have started our new unit of work: Animals and humans. We started the unit off by thinking about the basic needs of an animal and humans. Can you remember the three things all living things need to survive? We then wrote some instructions on how to look after a pet. Later on in the week, we learnt about animal offspring. Can you remember the name of the offspring for these animals: horse, duck, sheep, goat?
