Well done for a super week!
In maths, we have started our new unit of work: Money! The children have recognised different coins and notes, named and spotted the difference between pounds and pence, and even started making amounts.
Can you name these coins and notes?:
Later in the week, we compared amounts and solved money problems using our addition and subtraction knowledge. Show someone how to work this problem out:
In English, we wrote our own journey tales using our plans from Friday. We thought about our own ideas for our introduction, build-up, problem, resolution and ending. Can you remember any of your ideas? Who was your main character? What did they find? Where did they go? Who did they meet? What went wrong? We then edited these using our writing toolkit. They should be super proud of their brilliant stories!
In topic, we used an atlas to name and locate Australia’s six states and two territories. Can you remember any using the map below?
We also learnt all about Australia day and ate some fairy bread! Can you tell someone at home how Australian's might celebrate? Does everyone in Australia celebrate?
On Monday, we had a fantastic day in Forest Schools with Liz. We learnt about different trees and how to identify them, we made journey sticks, searched for mini beasts and even got to climb some trees and play in the mud kitchen! What was your favourite part? Take a look at our pictures below:
