The sun is shining! Happy Friday!
In maths, we started the week by finishing our lessons on 'mass'. We learnt about 'kilograms'. Can you tell someone at home how many grams are in 1kg? We then looked at different objects and decided if we would measure them in 'grams' or 'kilograms'. After that, we used our knowledge to solve problems using our four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication). Show someone what you can do:
Later in the week, we started our lessons on capacity and volume. Can you tell someone at home what these words mean? We ended the week by measuring millilitres (see our pictures below).
In English, we have started our new writing unit: Poetry. At the beginning of the week, we went on a walk around school to explore our senses. We thought about what we could see, smell, hear and feel. We then wrote some expanded noun phrases based on what we found e.g., 'The bumpy, hard stone.'. We then learnt our new model text: Summer is Here! Can you tell someone at home what this poem was about? We thought about the rhyming words in our poem and began to create our own rhyming words e.g., cat = bat, sat, hat.
Can you find some rhyming words for these?

In Science, we have been learning about different minibeasts and microhabitats. We went into our woodland and grass area to see if we could spot any! What did you find? Where did you find them? We then completed our DT project. We designed and made our own moving minibeasts. Take a look at the pictures below! Explain to someone at home how this mechanism works.
