In maths, we started our new unit: Multiplication and Division. This week, we have been recognising and making equal groups. Are these groups equal? Explain how you know:

We then made equal groups of our own by drawing and using counters. Can you makes these equal groups at home?:

We then learnt how to write repeated addition sentences to represent our equal groups. Show someone at home how to do this:

On Friday, we learnt how to write multiplication sentences using the x symbol using our repeated additions and pictures. For example: 2 + 2 + 2 is the same at 3 x 2. Show someone at home: 

In English, we designed our very own amusement parks, ready to write a persuasive advert next week. What is your adventure park called? What do you have there? We then planned our persuasive adverts carefully and included some persuasive language and phrases such as 'the best', 'the fastest', 'number one choice', 'guaranteed' and 'you must'.

We also recapped the use the suffixes -er and -est in our writing. Can you change these words using the suffixes -er and -est? Remember the rules we learnt, if it ends in a 'y' change it to an 'i', if it ends in an 'e' drop the 'e' and if it ends with one consonant double the letter:

On Wednesday, we had a visit from the Derbyshire Rescue and Fire Services. We learnt all about how we can keep safe in our homes and what to do if there is a fire or emergency at home or at school. Even Dexter joined in! We watched a video to teach us all about it:
