What a wonderfully festive week we have had this week! We have watched the Pantomime (Sleeping Beauty), had our Christmas dinner and we have worn our Christmas jumpers! We even went to watch the KS1 Christmas performance at the 400 hall AND it's been our Christmas fayre!
In English we have started thinking about our new unit of Winter poetry. This week we analysed a variety of different Winter and Christmas themed poetry. We thought about our five senses and how the poets use them to write as well as what we thought the poems were actually about. We also created our own examples of alliteration and similes. Can you tell your grown up an example of alliteration?
In Maths we have begun thinking about multiplying in equal groups and using arrays to display the different ways that multiplication sentences can be set out. Year 3 will start learning about their 3 and 4 times tables next week and Year 4 will be learning about their 6 and 9 times tables!
Within Science we carried on thinking about our States of Matter topic and learnt about the Water Cycle. We thought about how condensation and evaporation occurs and why they occur at different times of the Water Cycle. Can you explain this diagram to your grown up using the scientific vocabulary that we learnt?
On Wednesday we had the super treat of watching The Sleeping Beauty Pantomime in school. The children really enjoyed this experience and it was a super start to the festive period. We also had our Christmas jumper day.
A huge thank you to all the parents who have been remembering to log their children's reading in their reading diaries - this is a huge help to keep track of who has been reading at home! Keep up the great work!
