Our Learning

What a busy final week of term we have had in Seals class! It has involved Egyptian art, common denominators and a community recipe!

English –

This week, the children have been writing cinquain poems. They have followed the rules of a cinquain poem carefully and written several poems around themes which they have chosen themselves. The children all read a poem aloud to the class and have each published their poems to display on our writing wall in class!

Maths –

We have started our fractions unit of work this week. This has involved finding equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions, placing equivalent fractions on a number line, and comparing and ordering fractions.

History -

Our ancient Egyptian topic has now been brought to a close. To round off the topic, we looked at ancient Egyptian art (including architecture, sculptures, jewellery, paintings and more) and created a scrapbook page in our Art books to showcase what we had learned, even trying to draw some of the fantastic Egyptian art! We also spent some time writing our name in hieroglyphics and each have our very own hieroglyphics bookmark!

Homework –

Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Monday 6th November.
