WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/C 29.04.24

We have had a lovely week in the Owls Class (plus, the sun has made a bit of an appearance!).

In maths, we have started our new unit of work: Mass, capacity and temperature. We started the week by measuring items on weighing scales, making predictions and comparing the mass using our greater than, less than and equal to symbols. We learnt about measuring in grams (g) and made estimates based on our knowledge of previous items we had weighed. We also learnt to read measurements on weighing scales that measure in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. Later in the week, we learnt about kilograms (kg). Can you tell someone at home how many grams are in 1kg?

Using your knowledge from this week, decide if we would measure the items below in 'grams' or 'kilograms':

In English, we used our plans to write our own warning tales. I was blown away with the children's writing. They included lots of ambitious features within their writing such as expanded noun phrase, adverbs, conjunctions, similes and even some speech! Can you tell someone at home about what happened in your warning tale?

In science, we have been learning about world habitats. In groups, we created our very own shoebox habitats. We thought carefully about our designs and what we needed to include! Take a look below:
