Our Learning
We have had another great week in Seals class. It has involved healthy meals, shapes and lots of discussion!
English –
This week, we have planned and written our own discussion texts. We created our own topic question and conducted research to find for and against arguments for this. We then created a structured plan for writing, where we carefully considered the points we want to make and evidence to support these. The children have worked hard to write a balanced argument and will be editing and publishing their final piece of work next week.
Maths –
This week, we have started our geometry unit of work. It has included identify and classifying different shapes including triangles, quadrilaterals and polygons. Later in the week, we learned about lines of symmetry and completed a symmetrical figure. Our next unit will be position and direction.
Science –
We have now completed our animals including humans topic and will be moving on to a Design and Technology project relating to this unit. To kickstart this project, we thought about healthy eating and a balanced diet. We used our knowledge to plan a healthy, balanced meal, thinking carefully about including foods from a variety of food groups.
Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths homework which has been explained in class. This piece of homework is due on Monday 3rd July 2023. Children have been asked to practice their spellings, times tables and read at home alongside this.

You may notice over the next few weeks that the spellings in your child’s homework diary are different to those on spelling shed. This is because we are reaching the end of the year and there are lots of revision and summary spelling lists which the children need to recap and revise. The children will be tested on the spellings in their diary but we do encourage them to practice all of the spellings set.
Spellings given out: Monday 26th June 2023
Spelling test: Monday 3rd July 2023
Have a lovely weekend,
