We have had yet another busy and exciting week in Seals class! It has involved conflict, poems and bandages!
The children have now edited and published their finding tales, and the end results are fantastic! The children have wonderful imaginations which has made for some interesting reading! We are now moving on to a poetry unit, focusing on cinquain poems!
We have finished our four operations unit of work this week. It has involved applying the order of operations, using mental strategies and related known facts to solve calculations, and completed our end of unit 'fun quiz'! Next week, we will begin our fractions unit of work.
At the beginning of the week, the children researched ancient Egyptian inventions. After researching, they produced a poster to showcase all of the wonderful things that the Egyptians created! Towards the end of the week, we started to look at conflict throughout the ancient Egyptian period. This involved discussion about tomb raiders, wars and battles, weapons and the story of Antony and Cleopatra! The children were completely enthralled by the story of Cleopatra and even participated in some role play!
First Aid -
On Thursday, we were fortunate enough to take part in a 90 minute First Aid training session. The children were taught how to call 999, spot hazards, help someone who is unconscious, use the recovery position, perform CPR, bandage a wound and help a person if they are choking. It was a lot to soak in but the children were phenomenal and now have a good understanding of some very important life skills!
Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Monday.
