WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 25.03.24

Our Learning

We have had another busy week in Seals class. It has involved charts, comparisons and climate!

English -

Our English lessons this week have been dedicated to presenting our non-chronological reports. We have presented our reports about Canada as a double-page spread, thinking carefully about the best way to organise our pictures and paragraphs to ensure they are eye-catching. The children have worked incredibly hard and their final reports look amazing!

Maths -

We have continued our statistics unit of work this week. This has involved reading and interpreting simple pie charts, reading and interpreting pie charts with percentages and drawing pie charts. It has been a week of tricky Maths lessons but the children have persevered and succeeded in the end!

Geography -

In Geography this week, we have been comparing Canada and the UK. The first aspect we looked at was weather and climate. We compared the average rainfall or average temperature of a UK city to a Canadian city and presented the data as a dual chart! During our second lesson, we looked at various similarities and differences between the UK and Canada, including landmarks, physical features, size, population and more. The children presented their ideas as either a double-page spread or in a venn diagram.

Homework -

Children have not been given any homework for over the half-term. Instead, we ask that they revise for their SATs, practise their spellings and times tables, and read at home as much as possible.
