What a busy (and very warm!) week we have had! 

In maths, we have been learning about pictograms. We have been reading, interpreting and creating our own pictograms. We looked at pictograms where each picture represents '1' and also looked at pictograms where each picture represents either 2, 5 or 10. Show someone at home what you can do (remember to look at the key!):

In English, we have started to learn our new model text: Teddy's Adventure. This is a losing tale about a little girl called Lucy who loses her teddy in London. Can you remember what happened in each part of our story? Use the story structure below to help you:

Opening: The MC has something precious
Build up: The MC sets off with the precious item
Problem: The MC loses the precious item and has to search for it
Resolution: The precious item is found
Ending: MC vows to keep the item safe

We have also been recapping how to include speech within our writing. Can you find any speech in your reading book or in a book you have at home? 

In science, we started the week by learning about germs. We completed a 'glitter shake' experiment and the 'soap and pepper' experiment. What happened? What did you learn about germs? 

Then we learnt all about the importance of exercise and what it does for our bodies. Using the pictures below, can you tell someone at home why exercise is important?:

We also learnt about keeping our bodies healthy. We explored how humans keep healthy, what foods we should eat and how much! Can you label the parts of the 'Eatwell Plate'? 

On Thursday, we then designed and made our own smoothies! What did you put in yours? We evaluated our designs and considered what we might do differently next time. 

On Friday, we had a fun day exploring the Repton Mitre Drive field, searching for wildflowers! We then found lots of natural materials to make some artwork! What did you make? Take a look at the pictures below of our fun day out:
