WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 11th September 2023

What a fun-filled and packed first full week in Puffins class it has been. It has involved electricity, paragraphs and feature finding as well as Anglo-Saxons and timelines.  Read on to find out more…

Within English this week we have been carrying on with our unit on Diary Entries.  We have looked at how we create paragraphs and why, what verbs become when they are written in the past tense and how we can write in first person.  We have story mapped and acted out our WAGOLL.  Have a look at our story maps below!

Next week we are going to continue with this unit by beginning to plan and write our own diary entry.

Maths has involved us carrying on with place value.  We have identified numbers to 100 and 1000, partitioned them, looked at part whole models of them and identified the numbers that represent different place values.  Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?

We started off our Science this year with our brand new topic of ‘Exciting Electricity’.  The children thought about what appliances are battery powered and mains powered, if an appliance can be both and what powers things that are neither of these.

We began our History topic of Anglo-Saxons by thinking about all of the things we know already about this topic as well as the things we would like to find out.  We also created a timeline of this period so as well learn more about this period in history we can pinpoint when it happens.  We are so looking forward to carrying on with this History topic this year and we have so many exciting things for the children to learn.

Thank you for your support with spellings and hearing your children read.  There has been lots of changing of books which is super.

This week’s spellings are on spelling shed and in the spelling area of our Class Page.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Stay Safe
