Our Learning
We have had another brilliant week in Seals class. It has involved statistics, research and brute force hacking!
English -
This week, we have been planning and writing non-chronological reports about Canada. The children have worked incredibly hard to draft and edit their writing, aiming to include as many of our toolkit features as possible. We will be presenting our non-chronological reports as a double-page spread in our books next week.
Maths -
We have finished our area and perimeter unit this week and begun our statistics unit of work. So far, this has included reading, interpreting and drawing line graphs and dual bar charts. We will move on to learning about pie charts next week.
Geography -
In Geography this week, we have focused on cultural and societal aspects of Canada. This has included learning about diversity in the country (including language and religion), food, sports, music, art, symbols and national holidays, and animals! Children worked in groups to research one of these areas and then present their findings to the rest of the class. Their presentations were brilliant and ranged from posters to poems to singing the Canadian National Anthem!
Homework -
Children have been given a sheet of Maths and English homework to take home this week, which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. We also ask that they practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible alongside this.
