WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 03.06.24

Our learning

We have reached the Seals' final half-term at Primary School - Eeek! And what a busy first week of term it has been! It has involved buzzer games, letters and the first of our play rehearsals!

English -

At the beginning of the week, we showcased our best writing skills through a series of different texts, including a diary/newspaper about our residential, an instructions text and a story. Later in the week, we moved on to our new topic: persuasive letters. So far, this has involved identifying the purpose and audience of persuasive letters, comprehending persuasive letters, finding features of a persuasive letter and planning our own persuasive letter. We will be completing our 'Hot Write' next week.

DT -

Following our electricity work in Science, we have been tasked with designing a steady hand buzzer game. To help us with the project, we first researched existing buzzer games, focusing on how they work and what makes them popular products. Having investigated what is currently for sale, we each created a questionnaire to find out the views of others in the class. After gathering as many responses as possible, the children were able to reach several conclusions regarding what would make their product popular. They then used their questionnaire results and research to design their steady hand buzzer game. We look forward to making our games next week!

Golf -

The children enjoyed their first golf session on Monday and it was great fun! They first tried to master their coordination and control with the ball before familiarising themselves with the clubs. The children had some time to practise their swing before the final task where they had to get their golf ball into a designated hole. I did not capture any 'hole in one's, but I know there were many children close to it!

Homework -

Children have been given a piece of creative homework this week. They have been tasked with producing either a quiz or poster to inform younger children about Road Safety. I look forward to seeing what they each come up with!
