In English this week we have been learning how to recite the well-known poem 'Please Mrs Butler' by Allen Ahlberg. The children then worked in pairs to create and write their own versions of the poem. They had lots of fun creating funny suggestions for Mrs Butler to give (this will only make sense if you've read the poem!).
In Maths this week, we completed our unit on Position & Direction. The children worked practically to follow instructions and directions on a treasure map in order to collect pieces of treasure. The children also had a go at creating their own treasure maps, complete with directions. The children are very secure with using language such as quarter turn, half turn, full turn, clockwise and anticlockwise!
In science this week, the children have been learning all about hygiene. We conducted two mini experiments to see how germs are spread and why we should use soap (as well as water) when washing our hands. The first experiment was called 'The Glitter Handshake Experiment' and the second one was called 'The Soap and Pepper Experiment.'
