WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

(Misplaced one from Summer Term 1)

Another great week in the Hedgehogs' class, and finally a great week of weather as well! We have been taking lots of opportunities to go outside and get some fresh air! Look below to find out what learning we have been doing this week!

Maths

In our Maths learning, we have continued our work on Multiplication and Division. The children have been learning about how we can add equal groups together by counting in our 2s, 5s and 10s. We have been adding groups together, and then representing our thinking using repeating addition sentences. Can you count how  many there are altogether in each of the groups below? Remember to count in your 2s, 5s and 10s to help you!

We have also been learning about arrays. Arrays are a group of objects arranged into columns and rows. They are a way of representing a number, and they are a nice visual way of seeing the number. In the number below, we have made 6 with 3 rows and 2 columns.

Can you have a go at building an array to show your grown-up? You could use cubes, conkers, sweets, crisps! Bring any photos in on Monday! We also did some array work outside as well! Here are some photos below!

English

In our English learning this week, we have continued to do some work around our model text about the Bad-Tempered Ladybird. The children this week have been drawing story maps, learning key vocab from the text, and we have been writing sentences about the text as well. We created a story map together as a class. Can you read the story-map below? Can you remember any key words or "sponge words" (VIP) that we want to use in our story?

Science

In our Science learning this week, we have moved away slightly from our learning on humans to now focus on our learning on animals. We learned that there are 5 animal classifications for vertebrates (animals with backbones). They are mammals, reptiles, bird, amphibians and fish. We learned a cool, catchy song to help us remember it which you are welcome to watch here. It's a great video that explains the features of each of these groups.

Can you have a go at deciding which of the animals below are mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and fish? Work with a grown-up and see if you can explain why it is that animal!

Phonics

This week in our Phonics, the children revised the ee, ea, ea (silent ghost digraph), er digraphs. Please use the time to read sheets to consolidate any digraphs that your child may be unsure of.

We are very excited for our mosque visit next Thursday morning. Please make sure to pack a headscarf or a hat for our trip. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Have a lovely weekend!
