Another very busy week in the Foxes class! I cannot believe that we only have one week left until half term! Time is flying by!
In English this week we have continued learning about fantasy stories. We have looked at expanded noun phrases to help us add more description We also looked at fronted adverbials and how to use inverted commas (speech marks) to add speech to our stories. Next week we will begin planning our own fantasy stories.
In Maths, we have had a slightly different week this week as we have been doing Maths investigations! The children enjoyed investigating place value, odd and even numbers, deciphering different scripts and problem-solving involving different ice cream flavours!
We have had fun this week, continuing our learning about the digestive system in Science. We carried out an experiment which involved a pair of tights, biscuits, cereal and orange juice to help demonstrate how the different organs in the digestive system digest food.
Later in the week, we learnt about animal food chains. We found out that food chains always start out with a producer (plant). We learnt about primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers. We used our prior knowledge of herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and predators/prey to help us understand food chains more.
Next week is year 4’s least week of swimming!
Have a lovely weekend!
