WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

06.06.2025

Well done Otters for a great first week of summer term 2. It is a busy term with lots going on!

In English, we have started our new topic, which is Sci-Fi. We have been using our descriptive language to describe aliens and we have been working on our punctuation for speech. We have been particularly working on including speech to move on the action in stories.

In Maths, Year 5 have now completed their unit on shape. We have been working out angles on straight line, looking at the differences between irregular and regular polygons and we have also look at the properties of 3D shapes. In Year 4, we have completed our work on decimals. We have been comparing decimals, ordering decimals and rounding decimals to the nearest whole number.

In art this week we looked at retrofuturism and discussed the space race, which links perfectly to our new science topic. We have continued our seaside unit in French which the children are really enjoying! The Year 5s are getting ready for the concert on the 1st July and the Year 4s have been doing lots of times table practice for their MTC next week.

We started our new topic this week, which is Earth and Space. We will be completing the Science element of this topic over the first half of this term and we will be moving on to DT towards the end of the term. This week, we looked at why we experience day and night and we have considered the movements of both the Earth and the moon.
