This week, In English, we have been super busy as we have been writing our Mayan folk tales. The children have used all of the techniques and the grammar elements that we have taught and applied these to their stories. I was so impressed by the children’s fantastic ideas and use of grammar and punctuation!
In Maths this week, we have finished off our place value topic and moved onto addition and subtraction. The children have shown a good understanding of place value over the past few weeks, but need to take care, especially when rounding numbers. Remember, Year 4 work with four-digit numbers (Th, H, T, O) and Year 5 work with 5-digit numbers (TTh, Th, H, T, O). If you do any extra practise at home, your numbers need not be greater than these.
In History, we have been learning about Ancient Maya beliefs, specifically their ‘Creation Story’. After we have learnt about it, we created our own comic strip to retell the story. In Computing, we learnt about online reputations and used Greta Thunberg as an example and in RE, we identified the difference between fact and opinion.
