Our Learning
We have had yet another fabulous week in Seals class. It has involved social media, Shanghai and spoons!
English -
This week, we have completed a range of writing tasks focused on the theme of social media. These included: writing poems that explore both the good and bad sides of social media, writing a formal or informal letter containing advice and safety tips for staying safe online, and producing an informative guide to social media for parents/carers. We look forward to sharing our writing with you during parents' evening!
World Book Day 2026 -
On World Book Day, we completed a range of activities including The Great Big Footy and Booky Quiz 2026 and the much anticipated book character wooden spoons! For our English lesson on this day, we created a social media profile for one of our favourite book characters! We also completed the 'Masked Reader' challenge which was a brilliantly entertaining task!

Maths -
Year 5 have been learning about hundredths as fractions and decimals, as well as thousandths as fractions and decimals. Next week, we will be learning how to order and compare decimals with up to 3 decimal places.
Year 6 have completed their fractions, decimals and percentages unit of work this week, involving finding a percentage of an amount and finding missing values. We will move on to area and perimeter next week.
Geography -
After conducting research to discover more about the magnificent city of Shanghai, the children have spent time this week creating a leaflet/travel guuide for tourists. These contain information about the cities must-see attractions, travel systems, top restaurants and much more!
Homework -
Children have been given a sheet of Maths and English homework to take home this week, which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. We also ask that they practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible alongside this.
Homework is due on Tuesday 10th March.
Spellings -
Year 6:
incredibly, flexibly, invisibly, horribly, visibly, terribly, sensibly, audibly, possibly, responsibly
Year 5:

Spellings given out: Tuesday 3rd March 2026
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Bailey
