We have had a very busy week this week in Hedgehogs! Look below to find out what we have been learning about this week.
Maths
In our Maths learning, we have been doing some quite tricky learning. We have been learning to find out how we can get 2 addition and 2 subtraction facts from a single picture. Here is an example of how we can do this;

English
In our English learning, we completed our innovated stories of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children planned and wrote their own versions, changing the character of Jack, the giant and changing other features such as the beanstalk, the castle and the magical items. The children had so much fun writing this and produced some fantastic work. Well done Hedgehogs!
Geography
In our Geography learning this week, we have been learning about Kenya's past and how the UK is involved in Kenya. We learned that the UK had been unkind to Kenya in its history. Can you remember any events that had happened in Kenya's history?
We have also been learning about Kenya's history. We talked about Kenya's flag and its meaning. We learned that the meaning behind the colour of the flag is a lot to do with Britain's past with Kenya. Look at the flag of Kenya below. Can you work out what each colour represents?

We also worked in pairs to make the flag as well!
We also learned about the Maasai tribes and the traditions that they have. We then designed and created our own Maasai masks! We learned that the Maasai wear their masks for celebrations, funerals or to pray for their crops to grow. We even took the masks to Robins to show them and teach them about the Maasai! Here are our masks below!
Art
In our Art lesson this week we have been looking at 3D buildings and sculptures around the world. In pairs, the children designed their own 3D sculpture and thought carefully about what paper folding and rolling techniques they will use to build their sculpture. We can't wait to see the finished outcomes next week!
Phonics and Spellings
In our Phonics learning this week, we have been recapping the ve, oi, ai and ay digraphs this week. Please use the Time to Read sheets to consolidate any sounds that your child may struggle with.
