WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week Commencing 27.1.25

We have had a very busy week this week! We had a really fantastic trip to the mosque, we have produced some amazing rockets, and we have done some awesome painting this week. Look below to find out what we have been doing this week.

Maths

In our Maths learning, we have been learning about how we can estimate numbers on a number line. We learned that we can find the mid-point between two numbers on a number line to work out where other numbers could go on the number line. We played a really fun game to help practise this, which you can see here: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/37/placing-numbers-on-a-number-line

We also learnt about how we can compare numbers up to 20 by using crocodiles (< - less than, > - greater than, = = - equal to). Look at the pictures and numbers below. Which crocodiles would you use between these two numbers?

English

In our English, we have been writing our own stories based on the story of The Giant Jumperee. The children used their plans to create their fantastic stories. We tried to include

  • Exclamation Marks
  • Suffixes (-ed)
  • Capital Letters
  • Full Stops
  • Adjectives

Can you remember what the title of your story was called? How did your story start? Who came to save the day?

Geography

In our Geography, we have been learning about physical and human features of Kenya. We learnt that physical features are areas that are natural and are not made by humans. Human features are areas that are made by humans. Here are some Kenyan landmarks and areas below. Can you tell your grown-up which ones are physical and which ones are human features?

Religion

We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to go and visit a mosque this week. We went to the Jamia Mosque on Tuesday to go and see the features of a mosque that we have been learning about. A lovely tour guide, called Selima, gave us a fantastic tour of the mosque and all its features. We then came back to school and created brochures of our day. You can find pictures of our day below!

Computing - Following our designs to make our rockets!

Phonics

In our Phonics, we have been learning lots of different graphemes of the /or/ phoneme. We recapped the or digraph, the ore trigraph and the aw digraph (Mr Armishaw's favourite digraph!) Please use the Monster Phonics booklets to recap any sounds learned this week.
