Thank you for all your support through this busy week! Find out below what we have been learning about this week.
Maths
In our Maths learning, we have been learning about how to find one more and one less of numbers up to 20, and how to use a number line to identify numbers up to 20. Here are some challenges you can have a go at home!
Can you find one more and one less than these numbers?
What numbers on this number line could be covered up by this shape?

English
In our English learning, we have been thinking of innovating the story of 'The Giant Jumperee' by changing the resolution of the story. We changed how Mummy Frog got the Baby Frog out of the burrow. Can you think of another way that the Mummy Frog could have got the Baby Frog out of the burrow? We also planned our own stories, ready to write for next week! Can you remember your ideas? Can you remember what your 'terrifying creature' was, or the title of your story?
Geography
In our Geography learning, we have been continuing to look at maps of Kenya to find out more information. We learned how to create a key from a map to tell people more information about the map. We learned that we can draw symbols to let people know what certain features are on a map. Here are two maps below, one of Kenya and one of the UK. Can you tell your grown-up what;
- a star means?
- a blue square?
- a yellow triangle?
- the dotted red line (for Kenya)?
- the yellow square?
- the small orange circles?
We also worked on using coordinates (NSEW) to help find out information about Kenya's animals! We worked as 'Geography detectives' to find out where animals lived by using clues involving NSEW. See if you and a grown-up can be detectives too and work out where these animals live in Kenya! Use the clues on the right page to identify where the animals could live. The white circles on the map are where they live!
Art
In our Art, we have been continuing to explore with colour. This week, we learned how to print with paint. The children used lego bricks to print paint onto pieces of paper! The children loved it! Here are some photos of them in action.
Phonics
In our Phonics learning, we have been learning about the ie digraph making an ie sound (Yellow I) and an ie sound (Green Froggy). We have also recapped the igh trigraph as well. Please use the time to read Monster Phonics booklet to consolidate any sounds from this week.
Spellings
Have a lovely weekend!
