WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

25.10.24

Wow! What a busy final week we have had in Foxes class!

In Maths this week Year 4 have been working on subtracting 4-digit numbers with exchanging. Next half term, we will be finishing off our addition and subtraction unit and moving on to learning about area and then multiplication and division. Year 5 have been looking at prime numbers and square numbers. We thought about how we know they are square numbers and what the factors of a prime number are.

In English we have finished our Newspaper Reports using the story of the Rain Player to report the news of ‘the boy who challenged a Maya god to a game of Pok-ta-pok!’ We used the techniques that we have learnt about throughout this unit, including reported and direct speech as well as using description to add detail to our writing.

We have finished off our Maya topic by decorating our Maya masks. The children used the inspiration of Maya rituals and beliefs to inspire their designs; they had a wonderful time creating them as well. Have a look at the photos of us creating them below.

On Monday, we visited St.Wystan’s Church to sing our Harvest song ‘We’re so thankful’.  Thank you to all the grown-ups who came to watch us sing and thank you for all of your donations of food, these will be greatly appreciated.

On Thursday we came to school dressed in our Halloween costumes and many of us enjoyed the special Halloween lunch that had been prepared by the kitchen staff. The children looked great – there were some fantastic costumes!

Next half term, we are going to be learning about World War II. I am looking forward to teaching the children about this topic and we are very much looking forward to our visit to Beaumanor Hall on our final day of the half term.

Thank you for your continued support.
