This week, we have learnt about the Mayan gods in History and written fact files about them. Later in the week, we also learnt about Maya art and artefacts. In Art, we have started designing a Mayan mask, ready to next week.
Year 5 started with note C in music and then did some indoor PE due to the rain. Year 4 had fun at swimming! We have started practising our Harvest song ready for the Harvest service on Monday 21st October. We hope you will be able to come.
As part of our Science lesson this week, we investigated which material was the best thermal insulator and would be best to make a lunch bag out of. The children all enjoyed this and many found that tin foil or bubble wrap were the best materials for the job. Thank you for sending in the resources so that we were able to complete the investigation.
In Maths we have been looking into comparing calculations and finding missing values. We keep practising column addition and subtraction and the more we practise the better we are getting.
For English this week, we started a new unit on Newspaper reports. We have read a model text about blizzards and unpicked the features and how this is set out. We will continue work on this next week too.
I hope you have a great weekend,
Miss Hanslow
