WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 23.03.26

Our Learning

Wow! I cannot believe that we have reached the end of another half term! The children have worked so hard this week and have produced some excellent pieces of work! Our week has involved: non-chronological reports, A-Zs and brute-force hacking! Read on to find out more!

English -

In English this week, the children have finished writing their non-chronological reports about China. They have included all the features of a non-chronological report, including: sub-headings, paragraphs, parenthesis, facts, interesting sentence openers and more! At the end of the week, the children enjoyed ‘publishing’ their work by creating double-page spreads. They had to think really carefully about the layout of their work to ensure they were able to fit it all onto one page – just like in a non-fiction book!

Maths -

In Maths, the Year 5s have been learning about the perimeter of shapes. We also learnt about the area of rectangles, rectilinear shapes and compound shapes. Next half term, we will be learning about statistics, shape and position and direction!

The Year 6s have had a tricky week of interpreting and presenting data! This has involved: reading and interpreting pie charts, reading and interpreting pie charts with percentages, drawing simple pie charts, and drawing more complex pie charts using protractors!

Geography -

This week in Geography, we have been consolidating our learning about China! We created an A-Z list to remind ourselves of all the fascinating facts that we have learnt over the past term. From famous landmarks and traditional foods to wildlife, festivals, and important cities, we discovered so many exciting things. The A–Z challenge helped us build our knowledge and learn to organise information in a fun and creative way!

In Computing, we learnt about ‘brute force hacking’ where the children learnt the importance of creating secure and hard-to-guess passwords!

Homework -

Children have been given a sheet of English and Maths homework this week which relates to our learning in school. This homework is due back in school on Tuesday 14th April. We also ask that they practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible alongside this.
