WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

07.03.2025

In English this week we have looked at a story called 'Journey' for Book Week. This was a very interesting book as there were no words but the children did a great job of understanding the story through its beautiful illustrations. As part of this we did some work on speech, predicting what the characters would be saying; sequencing events; writing in the past tense and writing a dramatic action sequence. Some brilliant writing this week.

In maths the Year 4s have started their work on fractions and Year 5 have compared and ordered decimal numbers. Next week the Year 5s will start their work on percentages.

In topic the children have completed some work on Christ the Redeemer and created a promotional tourist leaflet including lots of information. They have also sorted Brazilian tourist spots into physical and human features.

In RE the children recreated some Islamic art, they have continued 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' in music, looked at the originations of animation in computing by creating either a flickbook, zoetrope or thaumatrope and discussed cyberbullying in PSHE.

On Thursday the children dressed up and had a potato-fantastic day. The pictures looked wonderful and it sounds like they had a great day. The potato characters were also amazing! Next week is Science Week and the children will be looking at the theme of 'change and adapt'. The Year 4s and Year 5s will be learning about slightly different things as the Year 5s will cover human changes, similar to their work in PSHE last term. We will also be out on Thursday afternoon to watch The Addams Family - another busy week!
