12.6.26 - This week we went on a snail 🐌 hunt and made a spiral using natural objects from the forest.
5.6.26 - This week we made spider webs in the forest with string. We made a whole class web in the log circle and then individual ones with our friends around the forest. 🕸️
15.5.26 - Today we made nests! To enhance your learning about chicks and animals and their young, we collected natural materials from the forest, just like the ones we’d seen in the real nest in class and made our own nests. Some were big, maybe for the penhens, and some were small; maybe for a robin! We then put an egg inside to check it could do the job!
8.5.26 - today we made a pond and hunted for frogs 🐸. We put all the frogs we found into the pond then we tried to count them. It was too tricky, so we decided to put them onto 10 frames. We saw 2 full tens and 3 more which we knew was 23.
1.5.26 - this week we made a giant sunflower out of the natural objects we found around the forest. We looked for brown items for the seeds, yellow for the petals and green for leaves and stem. Everyone worked well as a team and the sunflower 🌻 looked fantastic!
24.4.26 - we made an irrigation system in the forest this week to water the plants!
Making the water flow from one end to the tree!
And with the ball......
17.4.26 - today we observed all the new life growing the forest as part of our Growing and Changing topic. We used the iPads to take pictures ourselves! We saw lots of differences.
20.3.26 - we loved seeing the forest in the sunshine ☀️ this week and looking at all the new growth that’s coming through. We had been looking at patterns on African animals’ fur and skin so tried to find patterns in the forest too. We used a crayon to do rubbings of the various textures we could find, like bark, logs, the fence, the pebble dashed wall, etc
6.3.26. Today we became artists and drew what we noticed in the forest. We spotted lots of new life growing at the start of spring. Look at our fantastic drawings!
27.2.26. 🐉 Today we went on a Dragon Hunt! We finished off our week’s learning about Chinese New Year with a dragon hunt. We found out how many we found as a class by placing the dragons on 10 frames. There were 31! We also noticed some signs of spring in the forest with the arrival of buds and daffodils 🌼
30.1.26. This week we explored numbers 6, 7 and 8 in the forest. We collected 6 objects and placed them on the 10 frame on the floor. We talked about how we knew there was 6, eg I see a 3 and a 3. We then repeated the exercise with 7 and 8. The children have really developed so,e good understanding about these numbers this week and their composition.
