Wow! Our first full week complete already! It feels as though we haven't been away.
The Otters have settled back into school life and routines well. We have started all of our new topics for each lesson now (except Thursday PE) and the children all seem very enthusiastic about it.
We were very lucky to have a visit from Dr Diane the archeologist yesterday, which was amazing- the children were all so engaged and learnt lots! We will build on this throughout our Maya lessons.
In English, we have started looking at a Maya Text- Rain Player, we have only read the first page though as we will read a small section each lesson. Everyone seems very interested already and we have created some great writing from this.
During Maths, we have been working on place value and using place value grids to help us. This will continue into next week.
We have had an assembly about school councillors, so if this is something your child is interested in we will be voting next week. Perhaps they could think about why they would be a good candidate.
Homework-
Optional this week- the children have brought home a spelling sheet. They need to put the word into the correct sentence. The children will be tested on these spellings on Monday morning. They should also have these stuck in their homework diaries.
Each Monday the children will have a spelling test and be given new spellings in their homework diaries. These will also be on spelling shed for your child to play games to help them learn the words ready for the test, as well as trying to get onto our class leaderboard (to earn housepoints) and whole school leaderboard.
Have a brilliant weekend,
The Otters
