These weeks are whizzing by and another fun one as it was Science Week!
For this, Year 4 focused on adaptation and evolution whereas Year 5 focused on the changes from childhood to adulthood and conception to old age. On Wednesday we went off timetable and did a carousel of activities including re-purposing old t-shirts, writing secret letters, designing inclusive playground games and learning about animal adaptations.
In maths, the year have continued with their fraction work and looking at some tricky concepts like mixed numbers and improper fractions. The Year 5s have done lots of rounding decimals and understanding percentages.
We also started our assessments at the end of the week with a reading paper. The assessments will continue next week with grammar, spelling and maths.
In other areas of the curriculum we have used some software to create stop motion animations where the children did brilliantly! They really grasped the concept and made some great short films. In topic we learned about carnivals and did lots of research to present next week. More rapping in music for Fresh prince and work on Jane Goodall in science!
On Thursday afternoon, the children were treated to a performance of The Addams Family at Repton School and they had a brilliant time!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Cotton
