WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

04.10.24

Happy weekend everyone.

This week has been super busy in English, we have been writing our Mayan folk tales.  Since we started in Otters, this has been what we have been working towards in our English lessons. The children have used all of the techniques and the grammar elements that we have taught to apply these to our stories. Mrs Cotton and I were very impressed by your vocabulary choices and use of direct speech. Well done!

During Maths this week, we have finsihed off our place value topic and moved onto addition and subtraction. The children have a good understanding of this but do need to ensure they check their answers before moving on. This will continue into next week.

In our afternoon sessions, we completed a comic book based on the Mayan creation story in Topic, learnt about Greta Thunberg and online reputations in Computing, and identified the difference between fact and opinion in RE. The  Y5's started playing their trumpets in Music and are already playing notes!

We also celebrated National Poetry Day by reading some poems, one in particular was 'Your voice' which the children enjoyed as we also looked at the rhyming pattern too.

We hope you have a great weekend.
