WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

09.05.2025

It has been a short week this week but we have still managed to fit lots in!

In English we have watched "The Lighthouse". We have thought carefully about what happens within the story and we have selected rich vocabulary to help us to describe. We then used the events of "The Lighthouse" to plan a figurative language poem and generated similes, metaphors, alliteration and onomatopoeia that we can include in our own poems next week.

In Maths, Year 5 have completed their statistics unit. We have been reading and interpreting timetables and we considered where we use timetables in our day to day lives. Year 4 have been continuing their unit of decimals and fractions and they have been dividing by 10.

We have carried on with our science investigations this week and looked at water resistance. We created 3 shaped and tested to see how streamlined they were. We discovered that the more streamlined they were, the quicker they would go through the water. We also looked at our differences in PSHE and celebrated what made us unique. In French, the Otters did some brilliant acting with Mrs Jones and we had a fab Tuesday with the Year 4s swimming while the Year 5s did hockey and their trumpet lesson.

In art, we have made a start on our own 3D art installations. We will continue with these next week and hope to have them finished by the half term so that we can share some pictures of them with you.
