WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

16.05.2025

We have had another super week this week.

In English, the Otters have amazed us with their wonderful poems that were based on "The Lighthouse". They have worked so hard to include the features of figurative language that we have been learning about over the last few weeks. We also worked on performing our poems. We thought carefully about intonation, tone, volume and actions and we thought about the impact that these would have on the audience.

In Maths in Year 5, we have started our new unit of shape. We have been looking at degrees, classifying angles, estimating and measuring angles with a protractor. We are really getting used to the ideas as to what an acute, obtuse and reflex angle looks like. In Year 4, we have been dividing 1 and 2 digits by 100 and we have been thinking very carefully about the place value of numbers in our unit on decimals.

In science this week we have looked at friction and did an investigation where we wrapped materials around a scooter’s wheel to see which material slowed it down the quickest. We worked out that the quicker it slowed down, the more friction it created. In PSHE we gave some advice to a boy who was being bullied due to his long hair and in computing we really enjoyed using the microbits to code simple animations; some of us even managed to program music!

In RE we have thought about where Hindus worship and we have looked at both the Mandir and home shrines. Finally, in Art, we have completed the mobiles that we started last week. They look great!
