WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Forest Time

25.4.25 - This week we noticed lots of growing in the forest! We picked some small leaves and petals to make a forest crown. They looked lovely!

28.3.25 - This week we explored pattern in the forest. We remembered the patterns we had found on the animal skins last week and using crayons and paper, we made rubbings of different surfaces in the forest, to see what patterns we could find. We also enjoyed a game of 123 where are you? And a hot chocolate!

14.3.25 - We enjoyed playing games today such as ‘123 where are you?’ We played with our friends, we collected sticks, dug holes, planted pine cones and lots of other games from our imagination.

7.3.25 - This week we became artists and drew pictures of things we noticed and were interested in in the forest. The children have brought their drawing home.

28.2.25. This week we went on a spring hunt. We looked for signs of spring all around us, such as buds, daffodil leaves, daffodil flowers, crocuses and new growth everywhere. We also explored our learning about length and height. We found objects that were longer and shorter than one another or taller and shorter.

This week we went on a dragon 🐉 hunt! We placed the dragons on to 10 frames and noticed that we had 3 full tens which is 30. We then enjoyed a story about a crocodile who was actually a dragon and then had a lovely hot chocolate.

17.1.25. Today we made a map of our forest area. The children have worked on maps for the last 2 weeks and really enjoyed creating their own of our familiar forest area. They looked great! They worked in pairs to walk through the forest and drew the main features that we saw and would see from the sky.

29.11.24. Today we made a 🔥 campfire! We had to first of all made a circle using bricks for the edge of the campfire, then collected sticks and twigs to fit inside; making sure that each stick wasn’t too long to fit in the circle. We sang the songs London’s Burning to fit with our topic about the Great Fire of London. Then sang “campfire’s burning”. We enjoyed hot chocolate and a story about one more and one less - A Squash and a Squeeze, by Julia Donaldson

15.11.24 On Children in Need day, we went into the forest to look for autumn leaves as bright as Pudsey. We then decorated them with spots or a Pudsey Bear face! We threw him back into the forest to hunt next week. We enjoyed a story ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ about kindness, for our AntiBullying week and enjoyed a yummy hot chocolate on this cold day!

17.10.24. This week we explored pattern. We read ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and joined in with the story, noticing the patterns eg “swish swosh swish swosh” and “stumble trip stumble trip”. We then went on our own bear hunts around the forest. After that we collected 2 different items and made a repeating pattern with them. Take a look below!

4.10.24. This week we transferred our maths skills to the forest. We thought of a rule to stick to for our collection of natural objects for example, things that are green, brown, spiky, bumpy or smooth. We then photographed them before coming back to the classroom to look at and challenge our friends to guess our rule. We read Elmer and the Rainbow and then went on an Elmer parade in our bright and colourful puddle suits!

27.9.24 This week we developed our maths learning on matching and found 2 objects that were the same in the forest.

Session 1. In our first Forest Time session, we explored the forest, learning and remembering the rules to keep us safe, found natural objects, built a camp fire, sang some songs and sheltered from the rain!
