One week left to go! This week has been very busy but Kingfishers have handled it like champs!
English
In English we started writing our own dreams based on the 'Dream Giver.' In the animation, the Dream Giver cracks an egg on an item and a dream is created inspired by the object. We had lots of different ideas: an elephant teddy inspiring a dream about a safari, a dog treat and dogs winning Crufts and swimming goggles leading to winning the Olympics!
We have been working extra hard on our handwriting and looking at how we can improve our writing.
Maths
After lots of hard work, we have finished our 'money' topic. We have covered some tricky concepts but these have been tackled head on. This week we looked at finding change from different amounts of money. We used the column method and number lines to help us do so. We have now moved onto 'time' and ended the week looking at roman numerals on a clock and telling the time to 5 minutes.
Next week, we will be looking at telling the time to the 'minute' and using the vocabulary 'past' and 'to' when describing what time it is.
Science
This week we drew our observations for the growth of our cress and discussed how different conditions effect the growth of plants. We also looked at the life cycle of flowering plants. We used the terms germination, pollination and seed dispersal in our work and looked at which parts of the plant make this possible.
Art
We continued to look at different types of Egyptian art and starting planning our own Egyptian scrolls. We discussed the colours that would fit in with our designs and looked at what style our drawings should be in.
Homework
Please learn the weekly spellings for Thursday 22nd May. The children have also been set a maths task on money. Please ensure that your child is read with and their reading diaries are updated.
Have a lovely weekend!
