What another busy week we have in Puffins, we seem to be flying towards the half term! This week has involved lots of work on the Tudors as well as Christmas card creating (early I know) and preparing for Harvest Festival.
In Maths Year 5 have been comparing calculations, using inverse operations and solving addition and subtraction word problems. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?
Year 6 have completed the unit of work focusing on the four operations. They have identified square and cube numbers, used the order of operations and used rounding the help them estimate answers. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?
In English we have created our own biographies about our own chosen significant Tudor person. The Puffins researched their chosen Tudor thinking about the information they would need to find. They had to think about how to put the information they found into their own words and make sure they found enough information to create an informative Biography. The children spent the rest of the week writing their biography and editing and improving it.
Our history lessons this week involved possibly the most famous Tudor monarch of all, King Henry VIII. We learnt all about Henry’s time as King at the start of the week and thought about all of the ways he changed England. Next week the Puffins will think about what sort of King Henry was, we will also learn about his six wives!
Year 6 got to carry out some First Aid training sessions on Thursday. They learnt how to call for 999 and when is a an appropriate or not appropriate time to do so. How hazards can be spotted to keep us safe and how to help if someone is choking. Why don’t you ask them to show you how they would put you in the recovery position?
As usual, homework was handed out on Tuesday and is due in on Tuesday 21st October.
