English
This week we started to read a book called 'Be More Bernard'. It's a lovely, light-hearted book about a rabbit called Bernard who is a little bit different the the rest of his bunny friends! It encourages children to embrace their differences and be proud of their unique talents and interests. Our lessons mainly focused on reading skills such as prediction and sequencing, but we did start looking at expanded noun phrases because we will aim to include these in our writing next week, when we create our own versions of 'Be More Bernard'. If you would like to listen to the illustrator, Katie Hindley, reading the story, you can follow the link below:

Maths
In Maths this week, we continued to work on place value of numbers up to100. The children got the opportunity to work practically using concrete resources, which is always great to see, as it supports their ability to work in pairs and groups and allows them to use key mathematical vocabulary. The children have learned the term 'partitioning'. Partitioning helps them to understand the value of each digit in a number and means breaking a number into parts (usually hundreds, tens, and ones) to make it easier to work with.
Computing
In our Computing lesson, the children looked at the parts of a computer (peripherals) and then developed their skills using the program 'Paint' by drawing a computer, being sure to include as many peripherals as they could remember.
