Maths
This week in maths we have been practicing identifying hundreds, tens and ones. We have been practicing finding 1, 10 and 100 more and less than numbers and working these out using place value grids. We also looked at partitioning numbers up to 1000 using part-whole models.
English
This week in English we have created our own setting description that we will be using next week to write our own stories. These were based on an event that happened in the past and we had some fantastic ideas, such as the Ice Age, Ancient Rome, The Mesozoic Period and World War II. The children worked hard to draw their setting and label these with expanded noun phrases and used fronted adverbials in our writing. We have also been focusing on using our senses to describe our settings.
Science
This week we have been looking at the different properties of rocks. We discussed the different types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic) and used our actions to practice describing these.
We then looked at different types of rocks and described the properties of them using the word bank below.
